Residue / Renewal
(Ash Panels)
Three panels hold seventy-five small canvases arranged in a measured grid — twenty-five on each. Ash gathered from three farm fires was pressed directly onto their surfaces, leaving natural imprints of residue and transformation.
The imposed grid introduces a quiet human order to organic material, echoing agricultural systems of division, cultivation and control. Within this structure, the ash — traditionally returned to the soil to restore balance before replanting — carries both trace and renewal.
The panels are intended to be viewed together, as a collective field of markings holding the trace of burning, dispersal and return.
